Malaysia's 2027 public holiday calendar has been issued by the Cabinet Division of the Prime Minister's Department, and for anyone in Selangor or Kuala Lumpur it gives seven ready-made long weekends, plus five more that one day of leave turns into four or five days off. The dates below are for Selangor and KL. Three of them, Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Haji and Deepavali, are marked as subject to change, because they follow lunar calendars.

What this means for a car or a driver

The big ones for traffic are Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri, when much of the Klang Valley drives home at once. The highway authority, LLM, and PLUS publish a Travel Time Advisory before festive periods with suggested travel times; follow it. Our guide to festive season traffic explains how to use it.

For a car on those dates, book as soon as your plans are fixed. Grandpride's car pages grey out days that are already taken, so you can see on the vehicle list whether your dates are free before you commit. Our guides to Alphard rental for Hari Raya and Chinese New Year car rental cover those weeks. Remember that only the named renter drives a self-drive car, which matters on a long balik kampung drive, and that the car stays in Peninsular Malaysia.

A chauffeur booked online needs at least two days' notice; for festive dates, book weeks ahead, not days. Use the chauffeur booking page for airport runs and family visits.

Planning questions

Are the 2027 dates final?

The fixed-date holidays are set. The three marked subject to change can move, and the Islamic dates can shift by a day once the moon is sighted. Book refundable where you can.

Are school holidays on the same dates?

No. School holidays are set separately by the Ministry of Education. Our guide to school holidays in 2027 lists them.

Is Grandpride open on public holidays?

The showroom opens Monday to Saturday 9 am to 9 pm and Sunday 10 am to 8 pm. Public holiday hours are CHECK: showroom opening hours on public holidays, and whether delivery and collection run on Chinese New Year and Hari Raya. For where to go once you're off, weekend getaways from KL by car has two-day trips for every long weekend above.
