Parking at KLCC: where to go for Suria, the towers and the Convention Centre

Mini Cooper Clubman

For Suria KLCC and the Petronas Twin Towers, park in the mall's own basement, which has about 5,400 bays. For the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, park in the centre's basement, in the open-air car parks beside Menara ExxonMobil and the Mandarin Oriental, or at Suria with a short walk through the tunnel. That covers most parking at KLCC. Whether you should drive in at all depends on why you're going.

If you're shopping or visiting the towers

Use the Suria KLCC basement. It sits under the mall at the foot of the towers, so you take the lift straight up. It's a big car park, so photograph your level and zone before you walk away. The car park also supports app payment by number-plate recognition, so you can drive out without stopping at a machine. Our guide to parking in KL explains how that works and what to keep as a backup.

On weekends, public holidays and evenings with an event nearby, expect to queue to get in. Come before lunch or on a weekday if you can. KL traffic jam times shows the hours to avoid on the roads in.

If you're going to an event at the Convention Centre

You have three choices:

  • The Convention Centre's own basement car park, closest to the halls.
  • The open-air car parks next to Menara ExxonMobil and the Mandarin Oriental, a short walk away.
  • The Suria KLCC basement, then the pedestrian tunnel from the mall to the Convention Centre. The tunnel is open from 6 am to 11 pm daily.

For a big conference or an exhibition weekend, expect the nearest car park to fill first. If you're presenting or exhibiting and have to be on time, get dropped off instead.

If you're only being dropped off

The Convention Centre's Main Entrance faces Jalan Pinang, and that's where e-hailing cars drop off. Give a driver "KL Convention Centre Main Entrance" rather than just "KLCC", or you may end up on the wrong side of the park. For the mall, tell the driver which entrance of Suria KLCC you want: the complex is big enough that it matters.

If someone else is collecting you later, agree the same entrance for the pickup. It saves a lot of phone calls in the evening.

If you're coming from Bukit Bintang

Leave the car where it is. A covered, air-conditioned walkway runs 1.7 km from Pavilion in Bukit Bintang to the KLCC area. It's often quicker than driving between the two in traffic, and you avoid paying for a second car park.

If you'd rather not drive at all

The trains are close. KLCC LRT station, on the Kelana Jaya Line, connects to Suria KLCC through an underground walkway. Persiaran KLCC and Conlay, both on the MRT Putrajaya Line, are a short walk away.

Or be driven. A Grandpride chauffeur booked by the hour drops you at the door, waits while you shop or sit through the conference, and picks you up when you call. It's the easy option for an evening at KLCC, when you'll also want a driver who hasn't been drinking. For a night out that takes in the towers from the outside too, see our KL night view drive.

If you're driving a rental

KLCC is an easy first city outing in a car that's easy to park. A compact like the Mini Cooper Clubman, at RM 1,100 a day, fits a mall bay without fuss. Save the low supercar for an open road, because basement ramps are where low front splitters get scraped. Grandpride delivers rental cars free within 10 km of the Petaling Jaya showroom and for RM 100 elsewhere in the Klang Valley, and you can browse the whole fleet on the rental page.

One safety note that has nothing to do with parking: Australia's travel advice names the busy pedestrian crossings near shopping malls, including at KLCC, as places where snatch thieves on motorcycles operate. Carry your bag on the side away from the road while you walk from the car park to wherever you're going.

Quick answers

How much is parking at KLCC?

It changes, so we don't quote it here. KLCC's car park operator publishes the current rates and car park entrances on its parking website.

Is there parking at the KLCC Convention Centre?

Yes. It has its own basement car park, and there are open-air car parks next to Menara ExxonMobil and the Mandarin Oriental. You can also park at Suria KLCC and walk through the tunnel.

What time does the tunnel from Suria KLCC to the Convention Centre close?

It's open from 6 am to 11 pm daily. After 11 pm, walk round at street level or arrange your pickup at the Main Entrance on Jalan Pinang.
