Mid Valley City has two malls, Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall, three hotels, and several car parks with their own entrances. For Mid Valley parking, decide which mall you want before you get there, because the entrance you take decides where you end up parked. Rates are on the boards at each entrance; this guide covers the getting in and out.
The roads in
Mid Valley sits in southwest Kuala Lumpur, at the northern end of Jalan Klang Lama (Old Klang Road), with Jalan Syed Putra running along its eastern and southern side. Four roads feed it:
- The Federal Highway, the main road between PJ and KL. From PJ it's the obvious way in.
- Jalan Syed Putra, from the city centre side.
- Jalan Klang Lama, from the south.
- Jalan Maarof, from Bangsar.
Set your destination as the mall you want, not "Mid Valley", in Waze or Google Maps. A pin on the whole development can land you at the wrong side of it.
Megamall or The Gardens
The two malls stand side by side, and both are big, so parking at the far end of the wrong one means a long walk inside. Megamall is the larger, with AEON and Metrojaya as its anchor stores; The Gardens Mall is next door, with Jaya Grocer among its shops. If you're meeting someone, agree which mall's entrance you're both heading for.
Finding your car again
In a car park this size, the rows look alike. Before you walk off:
- Photograph the level and bay sign, or the nearest pillar marking.
- Note which mall entrance you came in through.
- Keep the ticket, or the card you tapped with, somewhere you'll find it; you'll need it to leave.
Pick your hour
The Federal Highway is the main road between KL and PJ, so it carries the weekday rush in both directions, and Mid Valley sits right on it. Our guide to KL traffic and the best times to drive shows when the peaks start and ease.
Mall parking and street parking nearby
Mid Valley's car parks are run by the mall, separate from council street parking. If you park on the street nearby instead, in Bangsar or along Old Klang Road, you're in DBKL's area and pay by app; our guide to paying for street parking in KL lists the apps it takes. Driving an MPV or a tall SUV? Read the height-limit sign at the car park entrance before you commit to the ramp.
For the city-centre malls, visiting KLCC by car and The Exchange TRX by car cover the entrances and the traffic around them.
Not driving
Mid Valley has its own KTM Komuter station, which connects straight to the eastern entrance of Megamall. From The Gardens, a pedestrian bridge leads to Abdullah Hukum station on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line. If you're coming from a station on those lines, the train saves the car park altogether.
For a dinner at The Gardens or a family shopping trip where nobody wants to drive home, a chauffeur by the hour drops you at the mall door and picks you up when you call. It's booked from 3 hours, from RM 150 an hour in a Toyota Vellfire.
With a rental car
Grandpride's showroom is in Section 13, Petaling Jaya; from there, Mid Valley is along the Federal Highway towards KL. A rental can come with a Touch 'n Go card for tolls, loaded with whatever you choose from RM 50 to RM 500. Our guide to parking in Kuala Lumpur covers the other big malls, and the vehicle list shows what's free for your dates. A compact car is easier to park than a big SUV; the Mercedes-Benz A35 AMG is RM 2,200 a day.
