On a chauffeur booking with Grandpride, the Alphard and the Lexus LM carry the same load: seven seats and three large suitcases each. So Alphard vs Lexus LM comes down to what your trip costs in each (the LM has no Genting flat fare) and how much the Lexus name matters to the person in the back.
The two side by side
| Toyota Alphard 3.5 | Lexus LM300H | |
|---|---|---|
| Year, as listed | 2020 | 2017 |
| Seats | 7 | 7 |
| Large suitcases | 3 | 3 |
| By the hour | RM 200 | RM 770 |
| KLIA or KLIA2, flat | RM 450 | RM 2,300 |
| Genting Highlands, flat | RM 1,600 | No flat fare: by the hour, or one way by distance |
| To drive yourself | RM 1,900 a day | RM 3,900 a day |
The same booking rules apply to both. Hourly hire runs from 3 to 23 hours, with 10% off anything over 12. Hours that start between 7 pm and 11 pm cost 30% more, and between 11 pm and 7 am, 50% more. The airport fares are flat for trips under 80 km, the same day or night, with meet and greet at KLIA Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, and your flight is tracked if you add the number.
About the LM in the fleet
Grandpride's listing calls this car a Lexus LM300H, dated 2017, and the name carries the word "convert" CHECK: is this a factory Lexus LM, or a Toyota Alphard or Vellfire converted to LM styling? Describe it accordingly. The facts that decide most bookings are the ones in the table: seven seats, three large cases, a chauffeur and its own rates. If the exact specification matters to the person you're booking for, ask us before you book.
Which one, trip by trip
Genting Highlands: the Alphard. It has a flat fare to the top; the LM is priced by the hour or one way by distance. Our guide to a private car from KL to Genting shows how the flat fare and an hourly day trip compare.
A family airport run: either car, so compare the two KLIA fares on the day you book. They hold the same people and the same bags. Our KLIA meet and greet guide explains what happens at arrivals.
Collecting someone who will notice the badge (a client, a senior director, the bride's parents): the LM. That's a fair reason to book it on its own.
The newer car: the Alphard, which is the 2020 car of the two, as listed.
One or two passengers: skip the MPVs. A Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the BMW i7 with a chauffeur is a better fit for a single executive, and our comparison of six chauffeur cars sets them all out.
And the Vellfire?
If you were also weighing the Vellfire: it is the Alphard's twin under the skin, also seven seats and three large cases with a Grandpride chauffeur, and its own rates are on the Vellfire chauffeur page. Our Alphard vs Vellfire guide covers the differences between those two.
Online chauffeur bookings need at least two days' notice. Pick the car on the chauffeur booking page, add the passenger's name and number if you're booking for someone else, and the price is shown before you confirm.
