Our favourite anniversary surprise idea in KL takes little planning: the same kind of car you left your wedding in, a chauffeur at the door at seven, and an evening planned so neither of you has to think about parking. It works for a first anniversary and for a fortieth. The other ideas below are variations on who drives and how far you go.
The wedding car, again
If you married in white, silver or black, Grandpride's wedding S-Class comes in all three. For the one who loves driving
Give them the keys for a day. A Porsche, an Audi R8 or a Nissan GT-R is a better present than a dinner they'll forget by Thursday. The catch is that they have to be the named renter, so they'll know something is up when you ask for their licence details. Read driving a supercar for the first time before you pick something with several hundred more horsepower than your own car.
For the one who hates driving in KL

Keeping it a surprise
A few details decide whether the surprise survives:
- When you book a chauffeur for someone else, you add the passenger's name and number, and the chauffeur contacts them directly on the day. If that would give the game away, say so when you book CHECK: can the chauffeur contact the booker instead of the passenger when a trip is a surprise?.
- Online chauffeur bookings need at least two days' notice. Book early in the week for a Saturday.
- Tell the chauffeur the restaurant, the drop-off door and roughly how long dinner will run, so the car is outside when you walk out.
- Self-drive cars can be delivered: free within 10 km of the Petaling Jaya showroom and RM 100 elsewhere in the Klang Valley.
