Wedding car with driver in Kuala Lumpur: planning the day

Updated · By the Grandpride team, Petaling Jaya

Draft, not public. 4 questions for Grandpride to answer before this is published, highlighted below.

Get the timeline right first and the car second. A wedding car with a driver in Kuala Lumpur is booked by the hour at Grandpride, 3 to 23 hours with as many stops as the day needs, from RM 300 an hour for the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Hours that start from 7 pm cost more, so the timeline is the main thing to plan.

The bridal car

The S-Class is the classic. It's the long-wheelbase limousine, so two people and a gown fit in the back without anyone folding up. Grandpride lists it in white, silver or black CHECK: which S-Class colours are in the chauffeur fleet today.

The BMW i7 is a white 2023 electric limousine: modern, and very quiet inside.

The Bentley Bentayga Mansory is the statement. It sits higher than a limousine, which changes how you get in and out in a full dress, so think about it alongside the gown, not after.

For seats, luggage and airport fares across all six, see luxury chauffeur cars compared. If you want a Rolls-Royce, or would rather a family member drove, the Rolls-Royces are self-drive only, and wedding car rental in Kuala Lumpur covers the self-drive side.

The family cars

Seven-seat MPVs take parents, grandparents and the bridal party together, so nobody waits for a second run. The Lexus LM is the most formal and suits the parents of the couple. The Alphard and Vellfire are the practical pair for bridesmaids, groomsmen and whoever is carrying the gifts; Alphard vs Vellfire rental sets them side by side. Book the parents' car as a second car alongside the bridal one.

One booking or two

Many Malaysian weddings have a morning ceremony, a quiet afternoon and an evening dinner or reception. So there are two ways to book.

One long booking, say 7 am to 11 pm, 16 hours. The car is yours all day. That's 12 normal hours plus 4 evening hours at +30%, then 10% off because it's over 12 hours: about 15.5 times the hourly rate.

Two bookings, say 7 am to 1 pm and 6 pm to 11 pm. The morning is 6 normal hours; the evening is 1 normal hour and 4 evening hours. Together about 12.2 times the hourly rate, roughly a fifth less than keeping the car all day.

Two bookings win if the couple doesn't need the car in the afternoon CHECK: can the same car and chauffeur be kept for two bookings on the same day. Keep it all day if the afternoon is full of photos, outfit changes or a second venue. Chauffeur prices per hour in Kuala Lumpur has more worked examples.

A short one works too. Three hours, the minimum, covers the house to the ceremony with time for photos, and on any by-the-hour booking the car waits while you take them.

Either way, leave slack. Photos usually run over, and KL traffic on a Saturday evening isn't something to plan to the minute.

Late in the evening

Hours starting between 7 pm and 11 pm are +30%, and from 11 pm to 7 am +50%. For a late finish:

  • end the bridal car booking once the couple reaches the reception, and book a separate short trip home;
  • use Grandpride's Drink Don't Drive™ service for guests, so everyone gets home safely after the party.

Whose name goes on the booking

Usually not the couple's. A best man, a sibling or a planner books, and the passenger to name is whoever will be standing at the pickup point that morning, often the bride's mother or a bridesmaid. Tick "I'm booking for someone else" and give that person's name and mobile. The number is fixed once the order is placed, and it's the one the chauffeur calls on the day. The Grandpride representative's call to confirm the trip still comes to you as the booker.

Still to arrange

  • Ribbons and flowers on the bridal car: CHECK: can wedding decorations be fitted, who supplies them, and is there a charge. Wedding car decoration in Malaysia covers the options in general.
  • A bridal car plus family MPVs as one convoy: CHECK: how to book several chauffeur cars as one wedding convoy.
  • The getaway. The S-Class suits the honeymoon run to the airport: KLIA and KLIA2 are a flat RM 600 in the S-Class, day or night. The KLIA transfer guide covers flight tracking and the arrivals meet.

Online bookings need at least two days' notice, and popular wedding dates go much earlier than that. You reserve with a RM 50 booking fee online, which comes off the total, and pay the rest in store or in person.

Berapa harga kereta pengantin dengan pemandu? Mercedes-Benz S-Class bermula RM 300 sejam, minimum 3 jam. Jam yang bermula dari 7 malam dikenakan caj tambahan.
