KLIA to Genting Highlands is around 120 km by road, and about two hours in a car in ordinary traffic; allow more on a Friday evening, a weekend or a public holiday, when the Karak highway and the hill road slow down. The chauffeur, straight from arrivals
Add your flight number when you book and Grandpride monitors the flight, so a delay doesn't leave you without a car. Ask for a nameboard and your chauffeur will be holding it when you come out at KLIA Terminal 1 or 2. You go from the arrivals hall to the hotel without changing vehicles, which counts for a lot after a long flight with children. You reserve with a RM 50 booking fee online, which comes off the total, then pay the rest in store or in person.

Two trips instead of one
If you're spending a night or two in Kuala Lumpur first, book it as two separate trips. The airport run into the city is a flat fare from RM 300 in a Vellfire, and the trip up from KL to Genting is another flat fare, from RM 1,400. The bus
Genting Express runs a bus from KLIA and KLIA2 to the Awana bus terminal, with tickets sold at the terminal counter. It's the cheapest way up. The downside is the timetable and the luggage: you fit around the bus, and the last stretch from Awana to your hotel is yours to sort out. Check the current schedule and fare at the counter or on the operator's site before you plan around it.
Driving yourself
From the airport the route heads north through the Klang Valley, joins the KL-Karak Expressway and leaves it at Genting Sempah, where the private Genting road climbs about 17 km to the top. Two things to plan for in a Grandpride rental. Every rental includes 120 km a day, and the airport to Genting run uses about all of that in one go, so add a mileage package if you'll be driving around at the top or coming back down. And only the named renter may drive, so after a long flight there's nobody to take over. Before you book
How long does it take from KLIA to Genting?
About two hours in normal traffic. Peak weekend and holiday traffic on the Karak and the hill road can add a good deal to that.
How far is KLIA from Genting Highlands?
Around 120 km by road. The airport is south of Kuala Lumpur and Genting is north-east of it, so you cross the whole Klang Valley.
How much is KLIA to Genting by private car?

Will it be cold at the top?
Cooler, certainly. Genting is usually somewhere between 15 °C and 25 °C, 5 to 10 degrees cooler than KL, so keep a jacket in your hand luggage rather than in the boot.
Can we stop for food on the way?
Ask when you book CHECK: are stops allowed on a one-way trip, and at what cost?. If you want a long stop in the city on the way, two separate trips may suit you better.
