Subang airport transfer: getting to KL and PJ from SZB

Check your ticket first. Kuala Lumpur has two passenger airports, and a Subang airport transfer starts at Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport (code SZB), also called Subang SkyPark, not at KLIA (code KUL) down in Sepang. Subang is about 25 km west of central Kuala Lumpur and much closer to Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam, so the ride into town is shorter than from KLIA, and quicker unless you land at rush hour.

Which flights use Subang

Subang was KL's main airport until KLIA opened in 1998. Today it handles a smaller set of regional and domestic flights from one passenger building, the Skypark Terminal. Jets came back in 2024, and the airline line-up has shifted since: in 2025 Firefly's jet flights and AirAsia moved to KLIA, while Firefly's turboprops and Batik Air carried on at Subang. Schedules keep changing, so trust the airport code on your booking, not memory.

Getting from Subang into the city

OptionWhat to know
TaxiThere's a taxi counter in the terminal. Use it, not someone offering a "special price" in the hall.
E-hailingWorks from the terminal; about 30 minutes to central KL in normal traffic.
Rapid KL bus 772Runs to Pasar Seni in the city. Touch 'n Go card only, and slow with luggage.
TrainThe Skypark Link rail service has been suspended since February 2023 (as at 2026). Older guides still mention it.
Private chauffeurDoor to door, booked ahead, and priced in full before you reserve.

There's also a shuttle between Subang and KLIA if you're connecting, which takes about an hour depending on traffic. Going the other way, from a landing at KLIA to a flight out of Subang, allow for that hour on the road as well as check-in time.

A private car from Subang airport

Grandpride's airport flat fares are for KLIA and KLIA2. A pickup at Subang is booked as an ordinary one-way trip and priced on distance, using an hourly base plus a rate per kilometre for the car you choose. Because Subang is close to KL and PJ, that's a short trip. Enter the airport and your address on Book a chauffeur and every free car is priced in full before you reserve anything; online bookings need two days' notice, and only a RM 50 booking fee is paid online.

Add your flight number when you book, and Grandpride watches the flight so a delay doesn't strand you. On meeting you inside, ask when you book CHECK: does the chauffeur meet passengers inside the Subang Skypark Terminal with a nameboard, as at KLIA, or at the kerb?.

Choosing the car comes down to people and bags. For two passengers, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class or the BMW i7 take two large suitcases. For a family, a group or golf bags, the Toyota Vellfire and the Alphard have seven seats and room for three large cases.

Flying out of Subang

The same booking works in reverse: your address as the pickup, the airport as the drop-off. Leave more margin than the distance suggests if your flight is in the early evening, when the roads around Subang and the Federal Highway are at their busiest. Our guide to KL traffic times shows when that is.

Subang, Petaling Jaya and the showroom

Subang airport and Grandpride's Section 13 showroom are both in the Petaling district, so if you're flying in to collect a self-drive car rather than be driven, the showroom is close by. Car rental in Petaling Jaya explains collection and delivery, and the KLIA transfer guide has the flat fares if your next flight leaves from the big airport instead.
