KLIA transfer to Kuala Lumpur by private chauffeur

Updated · By the Grandpride team, Petaling Jaya

Draft, not public. 6 questions for Grandpride to answer before this is published, highlighted below.

Toyota Alphard 3.5l

A KLIA transfer to Kuala Lumpur with a Grandpride chauffeur is one flat fare, from RM 300 in a Toyota Vellfire. It covers one pickup or drop-off for a trip under 80 km, costs the same at noon or 3 am, and your chauffeur meets you at arrivals. The only real decision is which car, and at the airport the suitcases decide that more often than the people do.

Count the big suitcases first

  • Two of you, two large cases: any of the six cars. The S-Class, i7 and Bentayga each take two.
  • Two of you, three or more large cases: one of the MPVs. The Vellfire, Alphard and Lexus LM each take three.
  • A family of three with a large case each: three cases rule out the five-seat cars, so book an MPV.
  • Four or more large cases: book two cars.
  • Golf bags, prams or oversized boxes: mention them in Additional requirements so the right car turns up.
  • Children: give their ages in Additional requirements for child seats. Special requests are priced per booking and added to your total, and Grandpride confirms them with you before the trip CHECK: child-seat price and how many are available.

For families, the Alphard and Vellfire make the airport easy: seven seats, three large cases, and a sliding door each side for getting children and bags in quickly. Torn between the two? Our Alphard vs Vellfire comparison explains the difference. For a limousine-style arrival, take the S-Class, BMW i7 or Bentayga.

Seats here means the car's seat count CHECK: does the seat count include the chauffeur, i.e. how many passengers can each car carry. Prices are in ringgit and confirmed when you book. Going home costs the same: an airport drop-off is the same flat fare as the pickup, and KLIA2 is priced the same as KLIA.

Evening and overnight surcharges only apply to by-the-hour bookings, so a 1 am landing costs no more than a 1 pm one.

Where the 80 km line falls

Central Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya are about 50 to 60 km from KLIA by road, and Putrajaya is closer, so most hotels, offices and homes there sit inside the flat fare. That includes the hotels around KLCC and Bukit Bintang. How long the drive takes depends on the hour and the traffic into town.

An address further out is priced as an ordinary one-way trip on distance CHECK: how the 80 km is measured, and how an airport trip over 80 km is priced. You won't need to work that out yourself: the booking page prices the whole trip for every available car before you reserve.

Straight from the airport to Genting Highlands is the same story. Genting has its own flat fare from KL, but a run from KLIA to the highlands is much longer, so it's priced on distance. A private car from KL to Genting covers the trips once you're up there.

When you land

Grandpride's chauffeurs meet passengers at KLIA 1 and 2. A Grandpride store at KLIA is coming soon; until it opens, the meeting point is arrivals.

Add your flight number when you book and Grandpride watches the flight, so a delay or an early landing is handled without you calling from the plane. Type the name you want on the nameboard and your chauffeur will be holding it when you walk out; leave it blank and it shows your own name. Before the day, a Grandpride representative confirms the trip by phone, and your chauffeur calls to confirm the schedule. Immigration and baggage take as long as they take CHECK: how long the chauffeur waits after landing at no extra charge, and the charge after that. Our guide to KLIA meet and greet goes through the arrivals hall.

Booking it

On Book a chauffeur, choose One Way, put the airport and your address as pickup and drop-off, and add the date and time. Online bookings need at least two days' notice. Every car that's free for your trip appears with its full price. Add who's riding, the number of passengers, your flight number and the name for the board, then reserve. Online you pay a RM 50 booking fee, which comes off your total; the rest is paid in store or in person.

Landing sooner than two days from now? Call, text or WhatsApp +6010 322 3223 CHECK: whether bookings with less than two days' notice can be taken by phone or WhatsApp. Flying in from abroad and can't get to the Petaling Jaya showroom first? Ask how to pay in person on the day CHECK: can arriving visitors pay the chauffeur on arrival, and by which methods.

Quick answers

Can I book the pickup for a guest or a client?

Yes. Choose "I'm booking for someone else" and add the passenger's full name and contact number. The chauffeur contacts them directly on the day, and that number can't be changed after you place the order.

And after the airport?

Keep a chauffeur by the hour, from 3 to 23 hours; hourly chauffeur prices in Kuala Lumpur explains the evening and overnight bands. Or drive yourself: renting a car in Kuala Lumpur as a tourist covers what visitors need, and a self-drive car can be delivered to your hotel in the Klang Valley.
