Lamborghini Urus vs Huracán for a rental day

Updated · By the Grandpride team, Petaling Jaya

Draft, not public. 1 question for Grandpride to answer before this is published, highlighted below.

Lamborghini Urus

Urus vs Huracán is an easy call once you count heads. If anyone besides you and one passenger is coming, or there is luggage, rent the Urus. If it's the two of you and the drive itself is the plan, rent the Huracán. With Grandpride the Urus is from RM 6,000 a day and the Huracán from RM 6,100 a day, each with 120 km and Basic Cover.

The "from" figure is the lowest current rate for that model. Before deciding on price, open the Lamborghini list with your dates in it: it shows which cars are free, and each car's page has its own rate.

When the Urus is the right car

Book it when:

  • there are three or four of you, or one of you is a parent who won't fold into a low seat;
  • you are heading somewhere with a slope, a ramp or a speed bump every 50 metres: a condo in Mont Kiara, a hill road, a hotel porch with a steep lip;
  • there are bags. It's an SUV with a real boot, so an airport run or a night away works;
  • rain is likely, which in KL is often the case by mid-afternoon. It drives all four wheels whatever the version.

The Urus shares its platform with the Bentley Bentayga and Porsche Cayenne. You sit up high, the doors open normally, and it behaves like what it is: a very quick SUV with a Lamborghini badge. If you want an SUV and are weighing it against a G63 or a Cullinan, our luxury SUV rental comparison puts them side by side.

When the Huracán is the right car

Book it when:

  • it's you and one other person, with nothing bigger than a handbag;
  • the sound matters. A naturally aspirated V10 behind your head is the main event in this car, and the Temerario that replaced the Huracán no longer has a V10;
  • the day is a drive, say Genting at 7 am before the traffic, or a coastal road.

Go easy on the first hour. It's low, wide and you can't see much behind you. Our tips on driving a supercar for the first time cover the seat, the gearbox and car park ramps.

Our pick for a first Lamborghini day

The Huracán, if the day is about driving. The Urus is the easier car to live with, but if you're booking a single Lamborghini day to drive, take the mid-engined V10. Book the Urus when the day has a job to do, like guests to carry or an airport run.

Quick answers

Urus or Huracán, which costs more to rent?

It depends on the car and your dates. Compare RM 6,000 and RM 6,100 as starting points, then check that car's page. Protection, extra mileage and a toll card are added on top only if you choose them.

Can I rent the Urus with a driver?

Not the Urus: it's a self-drive car only. If you want a big, flashy SUV and someone else driving, the Bentley Bentayga Mansory chauffeur service is the one to look at, booked by the hour.

Which one is faster?

On any road you can legally drive in Malaysia, neither will run out of ability: the expressway limit is 110 km/h. The difference you notice at normal speeds is the seating: the Huracán puts you low with the engine behind you, and the Urus sits you up high like any SUV.

Can my friend drive for part of the day?

No. Only the named renter drives a self-drive Grandpride car, so book in the name of whoever will be at the wheel. If you're still deciding between a Lamborghini and a Ferrari, our Ferrari vs Lamborghini rental guide compares the 458 Italia with both.
