Updated · By the Grandpride team, Petaling Jaya

Draft, not public. 2 questions for Grandpride to answer before this is published, highlighted below.

Mercedes-Benz G63

Grandpride has ten SUVs for luxury SUV rental in Kuala Lumpur, from the BMW X5M at RM 1,600 a day up to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, the Bentley Bentayga Mansory and the Lamborghini Urus. Each comes with 120 km a day and Basic Cover, and can be delivered to your door in the Klang Valley. Choose by who's coming and where you're going, then by price.

Seat counts are typical for each model CHECK: seat count of each SUV as configured in the Grandpride fleet. The Urus and the SVR say "from" because each car has its own day rate on its page. All ten, with today's availability, are on the SUV list.

If there are more than five of you

None of these. Plan on five seats at most, and four in a Urus or Cullinan with individual rear seats. Five adults plus luggage fills any of the boots quickly. For six or seven, take the seven-seat Volvo XC90 from RM 1,400 a day, or an MPV such as the Toyota Alphard from the MPV list.

If you're mostly in the city

Take the Macan or the Velar. They're the easiest to get through Kuala Lumpur traffic and into tight car parks.

If it's a long highway run

The Range Rover Sport, Cullinan and Bentayga are the quietest at a steady cruise. The X5M covers ground very quickly without feeling like it. For a family of five with luggage, the Range Rover Sport, Cullinan or Bentayga have the most relaxed cabins.

If you're heading up to Genting or Cameron

A high seat and a soft ride make the bends easier on everyone in the back, so the Range Rovers and the Cullinan are at their best here. Count the kilometres: a return drive from Petaling Jaya to Genting Highlands can use up a day's 120 km on its own. Add +50 km or +100 km a day, or unlimited, when you book; unlimited is cheaper per km than paying the car's rate afterwards. Our guide to the private drive from KL to Genting covers the road.

Mountain roads and highway debris are hard on tyres and glass. Grandpride Protection+ covers both, with zero excess for damage and theft. A Loss Damage Waiver lowers the excess, and Basic Cover is included. Prices depend on the car and show as you book.

If the arrival is the reason you're renting

Four SUVs on the list get noticed: the G63, the Urus, the Cullinan and the Bentayga Mansory. The G63 is the most recognisable shape, the Urus the loudest, the Cullinan the most formal and the Bentayga Mansory the rarest-looking.

The G63 is the car most people mean by a G-Wagon. It's RM 5,500 a day, five seats, and close to two metres tall, so check the height bar before you drive into an older basement car park. Our G-Wagon rental guide goes through a day with it, and Mercedes-Benz rental in Kuala Lumpur covers the rest of the range.

The Urus and the Cullinan are opposites. The Urus is a Lamborghini first, quick and loud; the Lamborghini rental price guide sets it beside the Huracán and Aventador. The Cullinan is built around the people in the back; our Rolls-Royce rental guide covers it with the Ghost and the Wraith.

If you want a Range Rover: Sport, SVR or Velar

All three share a high driving position, then go different ways. The Range Rover Sport is the relaxed all-rounder. The SVR is the same shape with a supercharged V8, firmer suspension and a much louder exhaust: take it for the drive, not the comfort. The Velar is lower and sleeker, and the easiest of the three in town.

If you're on a budget

The X5M, Macan and Range Rover Sport sit at the lower end and are still a properly luxurious day. If you're torn between two cars, take the cheaper one and spend the difference on better protection or more kilometres.

If you'd rather not drive

The Bentley Bentayga Mansory also comes with a chauffeur, from RM 800 an hour or RM 2,500 flat to KLIA. See the chauffeur service.

Booking one

Pick your dates on the SUV list; anything already booked shows as not available. Choose the car, then protection, mileage and a Touch 'n Go card for the cashless tolls, loaded with RM 50 to RM 500. The price updates as you go. Have it delivered anywhere in the Klang Valley or collect it from the Petaling Jaya showroom; someone else can collect it for you. Review the itemised total and reserve with a RM 50 booking fee online, which comes off the total, then pay the rest in store or in person.

Only the named renter may drive, so book in the driver's name CHECK: licence, minimum age, ID and deposit required for these SUVs.. The car stays in Peninsular Malaysia, not Singapore or Thailand.
