For MPV rental in KL, decide first who drives: you, or a chauffeur. That matters more than Vellfire versus Alphard. Self-drive starts from RM 900 a day for a Toyota Vellfire; with a chauffeur it's from RM 150 an hour. For a whole day of errands or a weekend away, drive it yourself. For an airport run, a dinner or a wedding, book the chauffeur.
Self-drive wins when
You need the car for a full day or several, with lots of stops and loose timing: visiting relatives across the Klang Valley, a weekend out of town. It's priced by the day with 120 km and Basic Cover included.
Two catches. Only the named renter may drive, so one person does all of it. And MPVs are long, tall cars to park.
A chauffeur wins when
It's one trip, a short evening, or nobody in the group wants to drive. Chauffeur bookings are by the hour (3 to 23 hours) or a flat fare to KLIA and Genting. Hours that start between 7 pm and 11 pm cost 30% more, and between 11 pm and 7 am 50% more; anything over 12 hours gets 10% off, so a whole day with a driver works too.

The Lexus LM300h
It's the executive MPV of the line-up and priced well above the Toyotas, self-drive or chauffeured. Book it when the people in the back are the reason for the booking: senior management, a delegation moving between meetings, parents on a wedding day. With a chauffeur it seats seven and takes three large suitcases, the same as the Toyotas CHECK: is the LM300h a factory Lexus LM or an Alphard converted to LM styling? Describe it accordingly here..

MPVs and KLIA
For most airport trips, a chauffeured MPV is simpler: you walk out of arrivals and the car's there.

Fares are the same day or night, for trips under 80 km. Add your flight number and the flight is monitored; ask for a nameboard and you're met at arrivals, at either terminal. Our guide to KLIA meet and greet explains how it runs on the day.
Self-drive from the airport is harder for now. Grandpride's KLIA store is coming soon but isn't open, so a self-drive MPV starts at the Petaling Jaya showroom or is delivered to you: free within 10 km of the showroom, RM 100 elsewhere in the Klang Valley, and by quote outside it CHECK: can a self-drive car be delivered to or collected from KLIA or KLIA 2, and at what cost?.
A bigger group
A wedding party, a corporate visit or an event usually needs more than one MPV. The chauffeur fleet has three (a Vellfire, an Alphard 3.5 and the Lexus LM300h), so a larger group can go in two or three on the same day if they're free. Message us with your numbers and we'll check. Book each car for its passenger, and each guest's name and number go straight to their chauffeur. If you're driving it yourself
- Check the height bar before you go into an older basement car park, not at the barrier.
- Before a passenger slides a door open at the kerb, check for motorcycles coming up the inside.
- Reverse slowly. The rear is long, and with every seat taken you can't see much behind.

- Return it with the fuel level it had at collection. It stays in Peninsular Malaysia.

Is a minivan the same as an MPV?
Broadly, yes. Both mean a tall people carrier with sliding doors and three rows of seats, like the Alphard and Vellfire.
