Myvi rental in KL: the budget pick, costed

Updated · By the Grandpride team, Petaling Jaya

Draft, not public. 2 questions for Grandpride to answer before this is published, highlighted below.

Perodua Myvi

RM 200 a day buys you a Perodua Myvi from Grandpride, the lowest day rate on the fleet list. Myvi rental in KL works like renting anything else Grandpride has: 120 km a day included, Basic Cover included, delivery to your door in the Klang Valley if you want it, and only a RM 50 booking fee paid online.

It's the car for errands, a week while your own car is in the workshop, or a visit where you'd rather spend the money on food than on the car. The Myvi is small, assembled in Rawang, and was Malaysia's best-selling car for most of the years since 2006, so it blends into traffic and fits the street parking in older parts of PJ and KL that bigger cars struggle with.

What it adds up to

Four common plans, with the mileage each one includes:

A day of errands around PJ and KL1RM 200120 kmAlmost always
A weekend in Melaka22 × RM 200240 kmNo: add 50 km a day

A month30CHECK: is there a monthly rate for the Myvi, or is it 30 × the day rate?3,600 kmUsually

Watch the Melaka line. Melaka is about 145 km from KL each way, so the round trip alone is close to 300 km before you've driven around the town. Adding 50 km a day gives you 340 km over two days, which is enough; our KL to Melaka guide has the route. Choose mileage while you book, because kilometres added afterwards are charged at the car's per-km rate, which costs more.

If you need a car for many months, the Myvi isn't on the subscription list. Car subscription in Malaysia explains how that works with the cars that are.

Options that change the total

  • Protection. Basic Cover leaves you paying up to the standard excess. A Loss Damage Waiver reduces that figure, and Grandpride Protection+ takes it to zero for damage and theft, with glass and tyres included. Both are priced for the Myvi and shown as you book.
  • A Touch 'n Go card, loaded with whatever you choose from RM 50 to RM 500, paid at face value.
  • Delivery, if you don't collect from the showroom (below).

Petrol: one thing visitors should know

The car goes back with the fuel it had when you got it. Since 30 September 2025, the subsidised price for RON95 under the BUDI95 scheme has been for Malaysian citizens with a MyKad and a valid driving licence (as at 2026), so a foreign visitor pays the unsubsidised price for the same petrol. A Myvi doesn't use much of it, but budget for that price, not the one a Malaysian friend pays. Petrol in Malaysia for visitors explains how paying at the pump works.

When to spend a bit more

If you'd like a little more car for highway trips or for work, the step up is small: the Honda Jazz is RM 600 a day and the Honda Civic RS RM 800. Every small car is on the sedan list.

Things people ask

How much is Myvi rental per day?

RM 200, with 120 km and Basic Cover included. You see the full itemised price before you reserve, then pay in store or in person.

Sewa Myvi sehari berapa?

RM 200 sehari, termasuk 120 km dan Basic Cover. Yuran tempahan RM 50 dibayar dalam talian dan ditolak daripada jumlah; selebihnya dibayar di kedai atau secara bersemuka.

Can I let my spouse drive too?

Not on the same booking. The person whose name is on the rental is the only driver allowed, so if your spouse will do most of the driving, put the Myvi in their name instead.

Can the Myvi be delivered to my house?

Yes. A house within 10 km of the Section 13 showroom costs nothing extra; the rest of the Klang Valley is a flat RM 100, and places beyond that are quoted on request. Car rental delivery in the Klang Valley explains the zones and the handover.
