For most families, the right graduation car rental in KL is a chauffeured seven-seat MPV: a Toyota Vellfire from RM 150 an hour carries parents, grandparents and the graduate, and nobody has to find parking at a packed campus. For prom, book a chauffeur too, so no teenager drives at night. Self-drive only comes into it if the graduate wants to drive something special, and then their own age and licence decide what's possible.
Convocation day
Convocation is a family day: photos at the hall and around the campus, often a lunch or dinner after.
Getting everyone there. A seven-seat MPV is the practical answer, and our Alphard vs Vellfire comparison explains how the two differ. You can drive one yourselves, from RM 900 a day, delivered to your home free within 10 km of the Petaling Jaya showroom or for RM 100 elsewhere in the Klang Valley. Or book it with a chauffeur, who drops everyone at the entrance, waits through the ceremony, and collects you when the photos are done. Hourly bookings include the waiting and as many stops as you need.
Family flying in. A chauffeur can meet grandparents at KLIA or KLIA2 on a flat fare, from RM 300 in a Vellfire for a trip under 80 km.
A university outside the Klang Valley. A self-drive car includes 120 km a day; add +50 km or +100 km a day, or unlimited mileage, for a longer run.
A car for the photos. If you want a car in the graduation portraits, a Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupé, a convertible or a supercar all work, but work out where it can stand, because campus car parks on convocation day are busy and often controlled. Prom night
Prom means formal clothes, photos and a late finish, which is exactly when a chauffeur is worth paying for.
- The students arrive together and go home together, and nobody drives at night.
- A parent can book it: choose "Booking for someone else" and add the student's name and number, and the chauffeur contacts them directly on the day.
- Hourly bookings run from 3 to 23 hours. Hours that start between 7 pm and 11 pm are charged 30% more, and between 11 pm and 7 am 50% more. The quote shows the total before you reserve.

If the prom runs long, compare one hourly booking for the whole evening against a one-way trip there and another home, each priced on distance. The booking page prices both. If the graduate wants to drive
In Malaysia you can apply for a Class D car licence from 17. New drivers then hold a probationary P licence for two years and show P plates. So plenty of prom-goers, and some first-degree graduates, are too young to drive or very new to it.
Self-drive rental has its own age and licence rules, which can be stricter than the law CHECK: minimum age and minimum years of licence for self-drive rental, and whether P-licence holders may rent, for standard cars and for sports or supercars. Some rules are fixed already: only the named renter may drive, so friends can't take turns and no extra drivers can be added; the car stays in Peninsular Malaysia; and it goes back with the fuel level it had at collection. If the graduate qualifies, a car makes a good present: a weekend roof-down, or a day in something quick. The booking has to be in the graduate's name.

Each includes 120 km a day and Basic Cover. For a new driver, add the Loss Damage Waiver or Grandpride Protection+, which takes the excess to zero for damage and theft, glass and tyres included; the price shows as you book. Can I rent a car for prom if I'm 18?

What's paid when we book?
A RM 50 booking fee, online, which comes off the total. The rest is paid in store or in person.
