Honda Civic rental in KL: when the Civic RS is the right car

Updated · By the Grandpride team, Petaling Jaya

Draft, not public. 1 question for Grandpride to answer before this is published, highlighted below.

Honda Civic RS

Honda Civic rental in KL at Grandpride means the Honda Civic RS, a five-seat sedan at RM 800 a day, with 120 km a day and Basic Cover included. It's the car to pick when a Myvi feels too small for the trip and a BMW feels like more than the trip needs. Which model year and engine ours has: CHECK: model year of the Civic RS, and is it the 1.5 turbo or the RS e:HEV hybrid.

Most people choosing it are also looking at two other cars on the fleet list, so start with those.

Civic, Myvi or Harrier

All three include 120 km a day and Basic Cover, and all three can be delivered to you.

Take the Civic if the trip leaves the Klang Valley

The Civic earns its day rate on the expressway. Four adults fit in a sedan more comfortably than in a Myvi for three hours to Ipoh or two to Melaka, and a sedan boot keeps the bags out of sight when you stop to eat. If the plan is a long drive with friends or a work trip with a colleague, this is the one we'd point you to.

It also suits a business visit where you'll be parking outside client offices and want something tidy without paying for a luxury car.

Take the Myvi if you're mostly in town

For errands, a week of commuting, or a visit where you'll spend most of the time parked, the Myvi rental guide makes the case: it's small, it fits older street parking in PJ and KL, and it has the lowest day rate on the list.

Take the Harrier if there are children

A pram, two child seats and a week of luggage want an SUV's taller boot and higher seats, which make strapping children in easier on your back. Toyota Harrier rental in KL covers it. Five people with big suitcases need a seven-seater instead; seven-seater car rental in Malaysia compares those.

Mileage for the long drives

The Civic is the car people take out of town, so this is where the 120 km a day runs out. Two common trips, with the add-on that covers each:

TripRough distanceIncludedAdd
Ipoh and back in one dayabout 410 km120 kmUnlimited
Ipoh, two daysabout 410 km plus driving in town240 km+100 km a day (440 km)
Melaka, two daysabout 290 km plus driving in town240 km+50 km a day (340 km)

Add the package when you book. Kilometres past your allowance are charged at the car's per-km rate, shown when you book. Unlimited mileage costs less per kilometre than paying that rate afterwards. Our guides to KL to Ipoh by car and the Melaka day trip have the routes.

Two rules matter more on a long drive than in town. Only the named renter may drive, so on a four-hour run nobody else can take a turn. And the car stays in Peninsular Malaysia, so it can't go on to Singapore from Johor. Bring it back with the same fuel level it had when you collected it.

Booking it

Choose your dates on the car's page; taken days are greyed out. Then pick protection, mileage and a Touch 'n Go card loaded with anything from RM 50 to RM 500. You pay a RM 50 booking fee online, which comes off the total, and the rest in store or in person. Delivery is free within 10 km of our Section 13 showroom and RM 100 elsewhere in the Klang Valley.

If the Civic is close but you want a badge that suits a client dinner, the BMW 3 Series G20 is RM 1,500 a day, and luxury sedan rental in Kuala Lumpur lines up the rest of the sedans.
