Porsche rental in Malaysia at Grandpride means five cars, from the Porsche Macan at RM 2,000 a day to the 911 Carrera 4S at RM 6,100 a day, each with 120 km a day and Basic Cover, delivered in the Klang Valley if you want. They share a badge and not much else: two mid-engined two-seaters, the 911, an SUV and an electric saloon. Pick by what your day looks like.
| Porsche | What it is | Day rate |
|---|---|---|
| Porsche Macan | Compact SUV, five doors | RM 2,000 |
| Porsche 718 Cayman S | Mid-engined coupé, two seats | RM 2,800 |
| Porsche 981 Cayman GT4 | Mid-engined coupé, two seats, manual | RM 3,000 |
| Porsche Taycan | Electric saloon, four doors | RM 3,900 |
| Porsche 992 Carrera 4S | Coupé, two seats plus two small rear ones | RM 6,100 |
If you want a 911, and especially if it might rain
Take the Carrera 4S. The 992 is the current 911 generation, and the 4S is the all-wheel-drive version, with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six behind the rear axle. All-wheel drive matters more in Malaysia than people expect: an afternoon downpour arrives in minutes, and a car that drives the front wheels too stays calmer on a wet expressway.
It's also the most practical sports car of the five. The rear seats are for children, not adults, so treat it as a two-person car with room for bags behind you, plus a small boot under the front bonnet that takes soft weekend bags but not big suitcases. If you're new to cars this quick, driving a supercar for the first time applies to a 911 just as well. If you want a 911 for months rather than days, how car subscription works in Malaysia explains the monthly route.
If you want a winding road and a passenger
Take the 718 Cayman S. Both Caymans have the engine in the middle, which is why they feel so balanced through a bend, but the S is the easy one: a 2.5-litre turbocharged flat-four that pulls hard from low revs, so you can drive briskly without working the engine. It's also the right first mid-engined car.
If you drive a manual and plan to leave the city early
Take the 981 Cayman GT4. It's the purist's car, a naturally aspirated 3.8-litre flat-six (no turbochargers), and Porsche only ever built it with a six-speed manual. That's the whole point on an open road and the whole problem in Kuala Lumpur traffic, where a heavy clutch in stop-start queues gets tiring fast. If you aren't comfortable with a clutch in a jam, pick something else. Porsche 911 vs Cayman rental compares the two shapes in more detail.
If there's a family or luggage
Take the Macan. Porsche's compact SUV sits higher than the coupés, gets over speed bumps and steep condo ramps without any fuss, has a proper boot, and still feels like a Porsche on the road. It's also the cheapest way into the badge.
If you'd like it quiet
Take the Taycan, Porsche's first fully electric car: a four-door saloon on an 800-volt system, very quick and almost silent. It suits someone who wants a Porsche for meetings in town as much as for a drive, and it has four doors and proper rear seats, so it works for a family too. Plan where you'll charge if your day goes beyond the city; EV rental in Malaysia covers range and charging.
If none of these is quite it, sports car rental in Kuala Lumpur covers the Nissan GT-R, the Audi R8 and the rest.
What the day rate covers
You get 120 km a day, which is plenty for the Klang Valley. For the hills or the coast add 50 km or 100 km a day, or unlimited; anything past your allowance is billed at the car's own per-km rate, shown as you book.
Basic Cover is included and leaves you liable up to the standard excess. On a Porsche, a kerbed wheel or a cut low-profile tyre is the easy mistake in town, so look at the upgrades: a Loss Damage Waiver lowers the excess, and Grandpride Protection+ removes it for damage and theft and covers glass and tyres too. Each is priced for the car you pick.
Delivery is free within 10 km of the Petaling Jaya showroom and RM 100 elsewhere in the Klang Valley, or you collect it in Section 13. Fuel is yours: bring it back at the level you collected it. Expressways are cashless, so a Touch 'n Go card can come with the keys, loaded with whatever you choose from RM 50 to RM 500 and charged at exactly that.
The rate on each car's page is what you pay per day, and the itemised total shows before you reserve. You pay a RM 50 booking fee online, which comes off the total. The other requirements on the day: CHECK: deposit amount, minimum age and licence requirements for the Porsches.
On the road
Ask about the drive modes at handover; most of these cars change character between them, and you want to know which one you're in before the first roundabout. The Caymans and the 911 sit low at the front, so take ramps at an angle, and parking in Kuala Lumpur has more on car parks that suit low cars. In rain, leave extra space: wide, low-profile tyres can skim standing water, all-wheel drive or not.
Only the named renter drives and no extra drivers can be added, so book in the name of whoever will be behind the wheel. The car stays in Peninsular Malaysia.
