To hire a driver for your car in Kuala Lumpur, Grandpride charges RM 385 for an 8-hour day. You keep your car; we send the driver, who collects you at your door, makes as many stops as you like and brings you home. Past eight hours, overtime is RM 40 an hour, or RM 50 an hour after midnight.

The after-midnight rate is for overtime hours that fall after midnight, as in the last row CHECK: is the 8-hour day rate the same whatever time the day starts, and is there a minimum booking shorter than 8 hours?. Waiting while you're in a meeting is part of the day; you've booked the driver's time, not a list of trips.

People book it for a day of meetings where parking at every stop would eat the day, for taking elderly parents to appointments in their own car, for a family occasion when the usual driver would rather be a guest, for a night out, and for a visitor who has a car here but doesn't know the roads. Grandpride's drivers typically come from military and law-enforcement backgrounds. Settle these before the day
- Your insurance. Ask your insurer whether your motor policy covers someone else driving your car; policies differ on who may drive. Agree in advance what happens if something goes wrong on the road CHECK: whether Grandpride carries any insurance for its drivers while driving a customer's car, and who pays for damage caused during the booking.
- Fuel, tolls and parking. It's your car and your tank, so agree how these are handled, and the driver's meals on a long day CHECK: who pays fuel, tolls, parking and the driver's meals on a long day.
- The car. Say what you drive when you request the booking, especially if it's large or unusual CHECK: are there any car types Grandpride's drivers will not drive, for example manual gearboxes.
- Where you're going. A day in the Klang Valley is simple. For anything further, ask first CHECK: service area, and charges for trips outside the Klang Valley or overnight stays.
- The shape of the day. Start time, roughly how many hours, and whether it'll run past midnight, so the overtime can be quoted.
- Where the car will be parked when the driver arrives.

Keep the driver if your own car already suits the day: it's the right size, the child seats are in, everyone's comfortable. The flat day rate is easy to plan around.
Book a chauffeur if your car isn't right for the job or you want to arrive in something particular: a Vellfire or Alphard up to a BMW i7 or a Bentley Bentayga, by the hour, 10% off over 12 hours, more in the evening and overnight.
